Lockdown Browser is a custom browser that locks down the testing environment in Canvas. Monitor is an additional feature that may be used in conjunction with Lockdown Browser. Monitor requires students use a webcam to record their testing session. Instructors may review Monitor videos following student exams. INSTALLING LOCKDOWN BROWSER. In order to use LockDown Browser for an assessment, you must download the application locally to your computer. If a Canvas created quiz or test has LockDown Browser enabled, you will not be able to complete that assessment within Canvas.

If an instructor has created an assessment using LockDown Browser, students will not be able to access the assessment with a standard web browser.

Students may use a personal computer to complete the assessment requiring LockDown Browser, however our FIU licensed copy must be used. In addition, LockDown Browser is available in various computer labs across campus.
